Plus, separate forms for both the Junior Fell Race & the Children’s Fun Run.

    New Registration & Results System.

Following the chaos of last year registration, when the number of runners (247) overwhelmed our ancient, but upto then reliable “sticky label & results board” system and the start was delayed. We resolved to enter the 21st century.

With the help of Graham Revell & the Bradwell / Wolf Pit Fell Race teams we now have a computerised entry & results system.

Our computer wiz, Stu. Hollinrake has trialed & mastered the system, well done Stu.

The registration team has been doubled to 4 people, and we have 3 people involved in the actual computer entry procedure. Results will be ”nearly” instant.

Yes, we are having a “manual” back -up system just incase………………

Please join us for a great nights running on the 30th June 2010.

  • A BIG THANK YOU.

    Oh, what a night!
With 56 children in the fun run, 22 in the Junior Fell Race & 247 competitors in the Senior Race. The infrastructure and the resources were “creaking” just before the start; we hope no one noticed. The weather was good, if a little to hot for the runners.

The new course was well received
We had some very positive comments from the competitors. Lloyd Taggett, the winner & currently 4th in the UK Fell Running Championships 2009 said, “you’ve changed it from a mere local race into a proper fell race”. There was also a positive “thread” running on the FRA forum & other websites.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the race be it as a marshal, a member of the field team, or in some other capacity. We estimate that on the night it takes approximately 40 people to stage the event. Without the selfless help of these individuals, who gave up their time, it would not be possible to put the race on. Next year we are going
to need even more help if we are going to be able to cope on the night!

This year we raised a £247 for our nominated local charity, the Edale Mountain Rescue Team.

We would also like to thank our main sponsors:

    • Wm Eyre & Sons
    • Outside (Britain’s best Mountain Shops)
        • Woodbine Café & B&B
        • Hope Garage
        • Embroidery & Printing Service (Sue Hoggarth)
        • 18 Bikes
        • C-Scapes
        • The Cheshire Cheese (Hope)
        • Blue John
        • Cavern & Gift Shop
        • The Spar (Hope)
        • The Hope Chest Deli
        • Speedwell Cavern
        • The Herb Centre & Coffee Shop (Bamford)
        • Treak Cliff Cavern
      • Our supporters who helped by providing prizes, funding & refreshments for the race:

all of who made a major contribution to the race.

A very special thank you goes to:
Robert & John Watson for allowing us to use their land for the Junior Fell Race. Also to, Hubert Eyre, Frank Marrison and John & Caroline Longworth, for permission re-route the first section of the Senior Race across their fields. To Stuart Elliott, for providing transport on the “tops” on race day.

Another thank you must go to
Edale Mountain Rescue Team, who provided 2 units (Land Rovers), one on each side of Win Hill. To St Johns Ambulance who provided first aid cover on the field and at Twitchell Farm, where the cadets rigged up a hosepipe to spray the runners as they came off the hill. Very inventive & much appreciated!

Finally, but by no means least, a thank you to Judith Coates, for the presenting the trophies to winners of the main race & to Sam Fisher, Head Mistress, Hope Primary School, for the presentations to children following the Fun Run & the Junior Fell Race.

We hope you all enjoyed the evening and that you will be able to help next year.

Once again a VERY BIG thank you to everyone.

        THE FELL RACE TEAM.
